About

CHING HSUN has been painting for over four decades. All of her brushwork paintings are created with ink on hand stretched rice paper. She draws inspiration from traveling, fishing and eating.

THE LING NAN STYLE of painting that Ching Hsun practices is characterized by delicate brush strokes with a sweeping flair. Restrictive detail is sacrificed for a freedom that captures the spirit of the artist. Done in the ancient medium of ink on rice paper, Ling Nan combines the freedom of the new century with the tradition of the ancients. Ching Hsun studied under Chen Shen Jen, but she has brought her own interpretation to Ling Nan by applying it to the stark, black and white landscapes for which she is well known and to the distinctive birds and insects which have driven her popularity.
